2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is available in seven trims: the Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk. Each option provides a range of enticing features. The Laredo comes with 17” silver aluminum wheels, front fog/driving lights, roof rail, a power liftgate, keyless start, and heated mirrors. In addition to the features of the Laredo, the Limited has a sunroof, bi-xenon headlights, and LED fog lamps. The Trailhawk has 18” wheels, all-terrain tires, air spring suspension, and power-folding mirrors. The difference between the Trailhawk and the Overland is in the tires. The Overland has 20” wheels. The Summit has similar features to the Overland and includes active noise cancellation. The SRT is built more for on-road performance. It has no air springs, a lower suspension, and all-season tires. Aside from the SRT, the Trackhawk adds a supercharged V8 engine.

You'll have no problem traveling the beaten path thanks to the 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 260 pound-feet of torque and 295 horsepower in the Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit models. The SRT 6.4-liter V-8 engine packs 470 pound-feet of torque and 475 horsepower. But, if you want to be in awe over pure engine power, you'll want the Trackhawk's 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine with a whopping 645 pound-feet of torque and 707 horsepower.

All the trims perform well on the pavement. The suspension absorbs bumps well and the air suspension only makes things better. The V-6 engine is more than adequate. If you want sheer engine power, you'll want the SRT and Trackhawk. The Trackhawk's V-8 engine delivering 707 horsepower will leave you breathless. You'll want to take a serious look at the Trailhawk if your interest is mostly off-road, even though the air spring suspension on most models will suffice in giving you a comfortable ride over rough terrain.

As you slide behind the wheel of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and look around, you'll see a 7-inch touchscreen interface, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a six-speaker audio system. Depending on the trim, you'll either see cloth or leather upholstery. Front seats are ventilated and heated. Bumping up to a higher model means a more luxurious interior.

The 2019 Grand Cherokee comes with standard safety features like six air bags, anti-lock brakes, and a backup camera. Additional high-tech features protecting you on your adventures include lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, and adaptive cruise control. These features are optional on the Limited, Overland, and Trailhawk. The safety features come standard on all of the other trims.
