The Jeep Compass offers many features inside and out. It looks a lot like the full-size Grand Cherokee and has impressive off-road capabilities. You can count on the Compass to help keep you safe with its standard and optional safety features. Here are some of the top systems that you’ll get with the 2019 Compass.
Blind Spot Monitoring
The available blind spot monitoring system and the rear cross-traffic alert system uses radar sensors to detect vehicles in your blind spot. The system will alert the driver using an audible tone to let them know that someone is traveling in the blind spot, and the RCPD will signal an alert when a vehicle crosses your path when backing up.
Adaptive Cruise Control
The adaptive cruise control with stop and go will automatically adjust the speed of the Compass to keep you within a preset distance from the vehicle in front of you. The system can even bring you to a complete stop without any input from the driver if it needs to.
LaneSense Lane Departure Warning With Lane Keep Assist
The LaneSense lane departure warning system uses radar to measure the position of the vehicle within the lane boundaries. If it detects any drifting outside of the lane, it will alert the driver using both visual and audible warnings. If the driver does not make the necessary correction, the lane keep assist system will put the Compass back into the lane.
Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning With Active Braking
The full-speed forward collision warning system uses radar sensors to detect a potential frontal impact. If it senses that the Compass is approaching another vehicle too quickly, it will alert the driver using an audible chime. If the driver doesn’t respond or doesn’t brake hard enough, it will automatically engage the brakes and increase the brake pressure.
Parking Assist Systems
The 2019 Compass offers several parking assist systems to help make parking easy. The ParkView rear back up camera displays a video image of what’s behind you on the Uconnect touch screen as soon as you shift into reverse. The gridline on the screen will help the driver maneuver into narrow spaces, and it will send you an alert if it detects hidden objects. The ParkSense rear park assist system has four sensors in the rear fascia and will alert the driver if the Compass gets too close to another vehicle.
Passive Safety Systems
All the Compass models come with advanced multistage front airbags and a tire pressure monitoring display. Each trim also comes with anti-lock disc brakes, electronic stability control, all-speed traction control, and a driver inflatable knee-bolster airbag. Additional safety equipment includes front passenger seat belt alert, hill start assist, and the LATCH child seat anchor system.
The Compass comes with a wide range of active and passive safety systems. It also offers the option for several driver assist systems to help keep you safe on the road.
